While the new media has been very useful impactful in our day and age, we constantly face a threat to our privacy. While social media platforms with its huge amounts of users are always growing, cybersecurity has certainly been lacking a real protection. Just during the past couple of years, we've had major news about platforms such as Google and Facebook wrongly using its users' saved data including personal information, preferences, pictures, and even location. What's even more worse is when we know that they sell our information for billions of dollars and the companies that invest heavily into obtaining people's data make their business decisions and aim at certain audiences based on the obtained information. Still to this day, we hear news about data breaching which puts us a society in a great jeopardy. It's not at all comfortable to know that your information and even info such as what kind of things you go shopping for are all out there in the open. It's certainly up to the government to step in and apply even more regulations to protect us all from these breaches and wrongful usage of our personal information. So far, we don't see much result but hopefully in the near future, we'll see a bigger shield that would protect us and our information from leaking anywhere but our private space.
I chose to do my project on research on electronic literature. The reason why I chose this topic is because this is something that constantly surrounds us and something we can all relate to. Electronic literature has been a steadily growing market. With research on this topic, I'll be able to touch upon several perspectives such as sociological, technological, and educational. I'll discuss how electronic or digital literature is having an impact on the society and how we're adapting to such a big change. While the traditional ways of reading and receving information still exists, the appear of digital literature certainly is making a big difference. And the people's perception and acceptance of such drastic change certainly splits into two sides of opinion.
I totally agree with you. Cybersecurity is one major issues that we have to face in our society. Not only that we have to deal with the social media's taking our personal information and sell it to other agency for profit and we have to face the fact that internet security can be another threat of taking user's private information. Anly thing that is posted to the internet is free for grab by big companies and for hackers. Internet is never a save spot for me. We need those big social media plateforms to better project the user's information and privacy. I hope this can happen one day where no one have to worry about cyber security issues.
